Burdick’s design combines all of the above - mountains, a canoe, a winding river and a small campground - with the Shenandoah Council’s name and the insignia of the Boy Scouts of America, which was founded in 1910.
The Shenandoah Council encompasses six counties in Virginia’s northern Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley and three in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle. Burdick is a member of Troop 36, based in Washington, and is hoping to continue the study of visual arts in college next fall.
