We went out to Marshalltown on our wedding journey, putting up for a few days at the Anson house, whose proprietor was tickled to death to see us. It was our first meeting since I had become a full-fledged professional ball player, and the old gentleman had entirely recovered from his attack of spleen due to my refusal to become a scholar. As for his new daughter-ln law—well, I don't mind telling you that she made a big hit right at tha start.
