Brinkley Kerords Commissioner Brinkley, who rose from Nansemond county farm boy to prominence in h'.s State government, was named to the top agriculture post in Vir ginia in 1950 At 34. then, he was cne of the youngest men ever appointed to head a major de partment in the Commonwealth. A VPI graduate in animal hus bandry. he possesses a record as businessman as well as farmer, having served m the past as bank director and as an officer of the Holland Peanut Company. A Virginian by birth and fam ily. he is also Virginian in his principal hobby, the raising and showing of bird d 'gs He has served as an officer of the Vir ginia Amateur Field Trial Asso ciation. and is known across a rood part of the U. S., as a field trial judge. The Tobacco Market committee expressed elation today over se curing Mr. Brinkley for the event. "His public stature is in keeping with the significance we att-aeh t ; this event to honm our farm ers.'" Mr. Watson said.
