Business & Industry BANKERS LISTS WAYS TO I P FARM INCOME The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, looking at the agri culture picture for 1953 over the four-state area it serves, had some advice for farmers in the year ahead. The advice, pro pounded as answers to the ques tion, what can be done to make the highest profit in 1953, rec ommended in brief summary: 11> Some hard thinking on ways of increasing production efficiency, particularly uses of fertilizer, choice of varieties and selection of growing practices. 12' Maintaining close contact with agents and state experiment station results, which take guess work out of farming, and provide the best available advice. '3' With a scarcity of farm labor a certainty, every effort should be exerted to ge the most efficient production out of avail able labor, as a means of ex panding output and creating more income. In short, use the best materials and means to outgrow 1952, then harvest with a more efficient labor force—if 1953 income is to be higher. There is one addi tional word of advice.
