rnc American Legion and Auxiliary have always worked for the establishment of a well train ed citizen-army. The Auxiliary is pledged to support in every pos sible way the Legion s plan for national security. These were points stressed in the Legislative and National Se curity program presented by Mrs. E. F. Yates, Legislative chairman, at the January meeting of the Powhatan unit, Arneiican Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. C. E. Bevins, unit chaplain, opened the meeting with prayer, followed by united silent prayer for strength and en couragement for President Eisen hower and his cabinet. Bloodmobile t isit Mrs. Ben Jolujson. Bloodmobile chairman, announced that Hie Red Cross Bloodmobile will-make a return visit to Powhatan on Thursday. Feb. 26 Appointment cards will be sciit in the near fu ture. she said Last year, there were 192 donors during the one day visit oi the bloodmobile at the War Memorial Building. An equal number Is expected this year during ihe visit sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Julia Anderson. Rehabili tation chairman! reported that 55 gifts were sent to the gift shops in veterans' hospitals, and 22 books of postage stamps sent to Ke coughtan Vetciajns' Hospital. Several hundred citizens of Powhatan countjy aad .surround ing communities enjoyed the Christmas program presented by the Auxiliary and assisted by the Legion post, on the night of De cember 19. Some 175 children re ceived treats frpm Santa at the Christmas tree, the event chair man reported.
