A Prayer God, give me strength to build anew When all my plans arc in the dust, To quaff frustration's bitter brew And still keep on because I must. And help me God, to serve the right Without reward or thought of gain Undaunted by the evil might Of those who fill the world with pain. Give me the heart when brief assails And I feel weak and left alone To seek Thy aid that never fails Through faith that Thou ar on Thy tl rone Help me, I pray, when hope has fled To salvage, and again to mend My spirit shaken, bruised and bled But still unbroken to the end. God be with me when age is rife And when I near earth's journey's end, To bid a calm farewell to life And feel that death's a kindly friend And give me God, above all things Including wealth, ere I depart, That strength within that ever springs From a sincere and steadfast heart.
