Mayor Receives Honor
At tdwn .council meeting Tuesday night it was announced that that Mrs. Dorothy C. Davis, mayor of Washington, had been invited to act aa; honorary grand marshall of the parade at Charles Town’s Sesquicentennial on Wednesday, September 19. Mayors from surrounding towns and cities in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania have been invited to be in attendance on this day of the week’s feftivities. _
At the business meeting of the council, Mrs. C. J. Miller resigned as chainpan of the street committee, after a year’s service, and her duties were divided between Mrs. J. W. Critzer and Miss Elizabeth Racer. Numerous business matters were attended to, and some plans made.

Dry weather has bit generally throughout the county, with some sections worse than others. Near Sperryville the reports say that" ■there has been no real rain for four weeks. One of the hollows reports that it is as dry as the terrible summer of 1930, and a few sections are having trouble with wells going dry.
