Fred Dreiling, associafcehorticulturist at VPI, points out that' the new UJS. grades, being run on a trial basis fop 1951, are designed to “help the fruit grower help himself."
Growers, he says, have the aid of fruit inspectors hired to help maintain the standard- approved by growers from all areas of the country. Dreiling’s advice is to put apples whieh “don’t look good” in a lower grade, even though they will technically pass for a higher grade. This, he says,, will mean repeated sales and a sound reputation. , - ---ff —- '
