A Parent-Teachers convention at Virginia Beach settled itself this week with the problem of “making today’s children tomorrow’s good citizens.” It has been predicted that the meeting will he in session for some time if the convention members are planning to finish the problem.
A speaker at one of the first meetings of the convention warned that the “future generation must assert itself better than the present one if mankind is tq progress more swiftly down the road to happiness and security.” That’s a lot of big words and a long sentence. But, then, this is a. big country, spread over a long piece of territory.
We admit the country isn’t all It should be. They tell me my grandfather disapproved of parts of the government and the running of the country too. He was a lieutenant in the cavalry of the C.8.A. and times and circumstances were a little trying. However, despite times and conditions, he managed to rear his family, and, if they weren’t all perfect, they managed to be fairly substantial citizens.
