SUNDAY EVENING SERVICES FOR RED CROSS
The Sunday evening service* of the First Baptist church in Washington were devoted to the Blood Bank Program in the'county.
Mrs. Clarence Dearing, chairman for the colored people in the county for the project, being ill, Mrs. John Marshall Barbour substituted. She turned the meeting over to Rev. Robert C. Davis, the pastor, who on behalf of the church welcomed Mr*. D. D. Killer, county chairman of the Red Cross, Miss Marion Deleon,- field representative from National Red Ctoss, and Mrs. William Brown, — chairman of Rappahannock County Chapter Blood Program.
Mrs. Miller responded to the welcome on behalf of the chapter, expressed appreciation for their co-operation and briefly explained the immediate need of blood for both civilian and armed forces. Mias DeLeon, the speaker of the evening, in her charming manner explained in detail the urgent need, value of blood, and necessity for constructive planning, the privilege and duty for every citizen to co-opera to gnd in this argent program.
Rev. Bank's sermonetto, as he called it, sms most appropriate for the occasion. He stressed, as a calamity, the master minds that had to be used for the destruction of the human family in order thpt civilisation would exist, instead of being used for inventions to produce happiness and bo used for good of tbs world.
