We are hurting our fanning system today by not doing what the land is capable of doing. We should make every effort to develop a scientific farm program for the proper use and protection of* all the land on the farm—crop land, forest land, pasture land, idle land, gullies, and all—-according to its capability, and to treat it according to its needs.
Classes of land according to use capability are determined by considering the physical factors influencing land use. The1 factors include soil conditions, slope, kind and degree of erosion, climate, and drainage. The Soil Conservation Service recognizes eight classes which are listed and explained below.
