In determining the land capabilities, a physical land inventory is a must- This land inventory will give you information needed to determine what the soil is best suited for. It will show what soil types you have, the amount of erosion that has taken place, and if your land is level, rolling or steep. Steep land is best suited for pasture or woodland. This inventory will show if the land is wet, well drained soil. A deep soil will hold more moisture and plant food than a shallow soil. Therefore, we must idapt our crops to a soil that is best suited and capable of giving the most in return.
