Defeat Luray
The Rappahannock county boys’ and girls’ basketball teams opened their 1951-52 season by defeating teams from Luray High School. In the first game the Rappahannock girls defeated the Luray girls by the score of 38-14. The Rappahannock girls took an early lead and were never in serious trouble throughout the game. Joan Brown was the game’s leading scorer with 13 points.
An agressive Rappahannock boys team surprised the spectators by defeating a strong Luray team 38-28. After a slow first-half, the Rappahannock team found the basket for 5 field goals and a 2423 third quarter lead. With William ArmentroutV Daniel Keyser, and “Punk” Pullen leading the •way, Rappahannock was able to take a commanding lead as the game ended.
