Committee of the Red Crow to acoept and forward relief supplier for American prisoners of <war.
Arrangements relating to prisoners of war of both sides is the fourth point on the agenda of the current armistice talks in Korea and E. Roland Harriman, American Red Cross President, point out that the International Committee has tried repeatedly to get such an agreement with the enemy since shortly after the outbreak of the Korean conflict, but that efforts thus far have been futile.
Mr. Harriman said Dr. Paul Ruegger, President of the International Committee, and his staff have worked tirelessly as neutral intermediaries to get the other side to agree to set up channels for aiding prisoners of war.
A delegation from the com. mittee even went form its headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland, to Moscow and to Peiping and was unsuccessful in prevailing upon these countries to intercede with the North Koreans. Efforts to obtain an agreement are bentinuous.
