Lewis H. Hyde, who has been named rice chairman in charge of special June 6 and November 11 celebrations in connection with the Winchester, Virginia Bicentennial Commission’s year long celebration in 1952, has a background which fellow-citizens feel fo be sufficient qualification for the post.
Though born in New York Cipj, Hyde has spent most of his life here, and his mother is a Winchester native—the former Leila M. McGuire. His father was a New York attorney.
Hyde is a partner in Yount-, Hyde and Company, certified public accountants, organized here following World War II.
During the war he entered the service as a Navy enlisted man aboard a submarine in the Atlantic. He later served as an officer in air combat intelligence in the South and Central Pacific. He is presently a Lieutenant Comman
