Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Woodville cemetery with Dr. W. G. Pendleton, of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Pallbearers were C- J. Miller. P. Lee Thornton, R. L. Brown, James W. Fletcher, Dan S. Price, G Brown Milter, H.L. Milter, and Dr. J.P. Snead.
In a history of Rappahannock county, the name of D. Lyle Miller will be listed as a scientific orchsyrdist and excellent judge of cattle. Rated as a No.-I apple grower, Mr. Miller’s reputation was built over die past fifty years. At an earlier day, when quality of an anile was not necessary for a good market, D. Lyle Miller began to construct a reputation and establish his brand of anile as the best oil the market. Through the years he continued this policy of selling only top-grade fruit arid diligently guarding" his good name. In later years, when many orchardists could find no market, the apple crop from Mr. Miller's orchards was in great demand.
The location of Mr. Miller’s orchards is rated in the county as one of the best, both in site and soil, but that was a contributing factor Which the scientific apple grower used tp gain for himself the name of “best apple grower in Jhe county.”
Mr. Miller’s business acumen was known- to those associated with him in the business world. To those who knew him. as a friend, his ready wit and alert mind furnished entertainment and pleasant social hours.
