After the horse races wore over everyone stayed for the Mound Race which proved exciting and added a few comic highlights to an afternoon of sport. Wade H. Massie III organized his fleet of baying entries into a line where the drag was layed and at the third blow of his horn men, boys, and hounds went that-a-way. Actually, when the hounds fiinally disentangled themselves from their handlers, they ran well in a pack with some good music drifting down over the hill. As the pack came across the crowded finish line to yank the drag from his tree, an uproar came forth over which hound had won. We leave it as a tie between a solid tan and a tan and white spot. Then a bushy tailed grey was turned loose and was well on his way to ground when the hounds caught his scent and packed down across the field after him.
