me Virginia urcnestra will start its tour on April 14. It will open in this section of the State on April 24 with its concert in Warrenton. After the Frostburg, Md., appearance, the orchestra will appear in Strasburg and Winchester on April 26 and 27, Luray on April 27, and Culpeper on April 29. Of special note is the orchestra’s first presentation at Cabell Hall, University of Virginiaon April 20. The two Richmond guild concerts are slated for April 16 and May 19. Members that will travel to these concerts in this vicinity, will hear several different programs, including two symphonies of Beethoven, the first and second, the Second Symphony of Schubert) and modern works of Copland, and Gershwin. William Haaker will also program the Hungarian Dances of Brahms, Fledermaus Overture of Strauss, and the Carmen Suite of Bizet. The tour will comprise six weeks and will consist of forty evening and twenty eight student concerts, one of which will be the Sperryville appearance.
