"Following the line of the times, what with national politicing on the presidential election for Nov-> ember, the county seat is beginning to get steamed up for the town election come June 10.

Records, in the Cleric’s office show that the All-Woman government—mayor and town council— has declared its candidacy. Their platform has been discussed pri. vately but open statements from the ladies are not known.

As can be expected, there’s an opposition slate of candidates. The advocates of this opposing group state openly and quickly that they disapprove of the “cheap publicity’' which came to the tojvn. They feel that too much talk was inappropriate for a conservative, small, country village in a community where the ladies of the family - " usually stay at home and tend their housekeeping duties. They also state that, while a woman’s point of view is good on a town council, there is also the need of the business man’s point of view.

The opposition slate expects to bring out a man mayor and a council of three men and three women. This, they think, will mean good government and no publicity except that on accomplishment.

There are a few items that are certain (along with the many unpredictable . occurences— of elections) :» there’ll be words flying hot and heavy on both sides. A town election—especially in a town of total population of 245— can involve hot words and flaring tempers. Next-door neighbors will be at the throat-cutting stage before it is over, more than likely.

The other towns in the county are going to enjoy it thoroughly. They’ll tease where it cuts the deepest, and egg-on an argument whenever they can get—or make—the opportunity^

The election will probably be the next best thing to a dog-fight, and- everyone will enjoy it thoroughly—-except a few who let their tempers get the best of them.

One citixen—and voter in the town of Washington—states an opinion vehemently: the all-woman government was a joke to begin with and it's time a joke were put in its proper place, and that’s not in government.
