THE DRUGGIST IS REQUIRED TO KNOW
ASEPSIS AND ANTISEPSIS
The discovery of pathogenic micro-organisms in the last century led to the development of aseptic surgery and treatment. Asepsis—such as the wearing of rubber gloves and surgical masks and bandaging — excludes pathogenic micro-organisms from entering the wound or incision in contrast to antisepsis, the technique for destroying micro-organisms which have already effected entry or which are potentially dangerous.
