On June 1 approximately 40 citizens of Amissville and the sur“ rounding vicinity met and started to organize a volunteer fire compai^. A second meeting was held June 18 at which time assistance •was given by £. Murphy Hoffman of Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department and Frank Stoutamyer of Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department. > The following officers were elected: Thomas H. Tear, president; Charles Green, vice-president; Graham Haekley, secretary; H.
