Phelps declared that these helpless _looking fawns are not tost nor- in any danger, other than from the people who thoughtlessly pick them up and carry them away. He said that they are always under the protective care of the adult doe and

[ hold them in captivity: The best > thing that a person can do when he j sees a ‘helpless fawn’ is to get out of the area as quickly as possible. “In the last 10 years, and in the hundred of instances where someone picked up a fawn, only one of these instances was justified. This case was when the doe had been killed accidently and the fawn was close to her side,” Phelps said. This warning applies not only to deer, but to bear cubs, mink, rabbits, and every other wild game or furbearing animal.
