Vital statistics show Rappahannock to be one of six Virginia counties which in 1952 had a blameless record in no accidential non-transport deaths.

Fires, Explosions, and falls stood at the .top of the list as causes of accidental “non-transport deaths in rural Virginia. The rural home remains the most "dangerous” place.

Kids like to experiment and investigate. Better take time to teach them how and why to use matches; a box in innocent hands is extremely fascinating and most dangerous. Steep steps into the cellar or in barns serve as a perfect set up for an accident especially if chuttered with jars, cans of chaff especially if you happen to be toting or so of apples, potatoes ojr com, etc.
