Red Cross Tops Quota
With the distinction of being the only small county in northern Virginia to top the quota, Mrs. Jaenie Jarvis and Mrs. Kathleen Lawfence' have announced that Rappahannock county more than met its quota in the 1953 Red Cross drive. The set quota of $950 was passed when Rappahannock’s funds jumped over the $1000 mark; the exact to-the-penny amount has not been announced. Refraining from actually bragging, the Red Cross chairmen, for the county chapter and for the drive, did not elaborate upon the distinction the county enjoyed by being the only small county in this section to meet its quota. The workers admit that they worked hard, but the success was sufficiently rewarding. All contributors can feel justly proud of the county record; it took many donations—large and small—to complete and pass the assigned quota.
