BIRTHDAY DIN HER ~ Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Lea entertained on Sunday for their son, Carlyle honoring his sixteenth birthday. George H. Davis III, John Turner, and Newbill Miller accompanied the Leas to Augusta Military Academy, where Carlyle is a member of the sophomore class. Bobby Menefee of Rappahannock, another member of his class, also joined the party for dinner.
AUXILIARY MEETING
The Women’s Auxiliary of the . Emmanuel Church met Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock at “Jackson Hill,” the home of Mrs. Jack Bruce with the president, Mrs. S. E. Hening, presiding and Mrs. Z. H. Sealock led the devotionals. Mrs. W. R. Williamson, vice president, presented a beautiful corsage to Mrs. Hening in appreciation of her faithful service while she was in Florida during the winter and early spring months. Miss Charlotte Golladay, the honor guest was also presented a corsage of gardinia by Miss Annie Stephenson. After the regular routine business meeting, a very special feature of the evening was a gift shower for Miss Golladay, whose wedding to Paul Nichols took place in Woodstock, Sunday, May 24. The guests retired to the dinning room where the lacecovered table was centered by a lovely arrangement of Spring flowers. The attractive gifts were opened and displayed among which was a place setting of silver. Members present besides the hostess were Mrs. Hening, Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Sealock, Mrs. T. J. Pillar, Mrs. John Revercomb, Mrs. Fred Schaefer, Mrs. Catherine Trescett, Miss Annie Stephenson, Miss Louise Schwartz, and two visitors, Miss Golladay and Miss Elizabeth Fuss, The hostess assisted by Miss Fuss, served punch and cake to the guests.
