The caduceus—emblem of the Medical Corps—is truly a “Staff of Life”. For wherever our fighting men go—there, too, go the legion of surgeons, physicians, nurses, and corpsmen to bring succor to the wounded and sick. It is fitting on this Memorial Day that we honor the men and women of the Medical Corps who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country and of their comrades. It is also fitting to honor the Soldiers of Science—the unsung heroes of the laboratories—who are winning the war against the diseases that enslave mankind. We honor them through our professional service to the people of this community.
