On Sunday, May 24, Miss Char* lotte Virginia Golladay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Luther Golladay became the bride of Payl Andrew Nichols, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Burl Andrew Nichols^ in Woodstock. The double ring ceremony was performed in the Emmanuel Lutheran church by the Rev. Robert Logan. The church was decorated with palms, cathedral candles and white gladioli. The musical setting was provided by Mrs. Madge C. Ring of Edinburg, and the vocalist, Robert Logan, sang “O Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of organdy over satin with chantilly lace fashioned with a sweetheart nectline, three quarter length sleeves, and basque with a pointed lace peplum and full skirt. Her veil of illusion fell from a lace and organdy bonnet edged with stephanotis. She carried a prayer book, topped by a spray of white orchids.
Mrs. Gene Gardner, sister of the bride, was honor attendant and wore , a mint green organdy over taffeta gown fashioned with a portrait neckline and full skirt. She carried a -basket of daisies and wore a matching bind in her hair. Miss Doris Kines, Riverton, and Miss Julia Ring, Edinburg, were bridesmaids and wore gowns’ and carried flowers fashioned identically to that of the honor attendant. Leland Nichols, brother of the groom, was best man and the ushers were Harry Dunbar, of Chester, Virginia and Calvin Pitt, of Richmond.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was given by Mr. and Mrs. Golladay on the lawn of their home.
The bride’s mother wore a dress of navy blue crepe and her corsage was of stephanotis and gardenias. The groom’s sister, Mrs. Derwood Crabtree wore a navy blue gown and her flowers were identical to those of the bride^s mother. -
For traveling, Mrs. Nichols chose a light blue summer suit, white accessories and a white orchid corsage. Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols will make their home in Sperxyville.
The bride graduated with a B. A. degree from Lynchburg College. She is music supervisor in Rappahannock County Schools.
The groom received his B. S. degree from Lynchburg College. He is now employed as a technician in the state laboratory in Warrenton.
