Assistant Cases Decline
In Virginia
A sharp drop in the number of cases on public assistance rolls in Virginia during July was reported today by Mrs. M. Elizabeth Buntin, Superintendent of the Rappahannock County Department of Public Welfare. This state-wide decrease was noted locally, the Superintendent said. -Total assistance cases in the State dropped from 35,268 in June of this year to 34,925 in July, In Rappahannock County, the total for July was 95, a decrease of 5. Most of the State-wide decrease was ' in general relief cases, according -to the Superintendent although all programs except Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled showed a drop. Locally, there were increases in Aid To The Permanently and Totally Disabled and decreases in Aid To Dependent Children, General Relief, • and Foster Care.
State-wide expenditures decreased in July, when the total was $1,302,383, $7,306 less than the month before. In Rappahannock County, total July expenditures were $2,605.50, a decrease of $334.50 over June.
