William- . son, Beef Cattle Marketing Specialist of the VPI Extension Service, did Virginia Feeder Calf Sales promotional work during the past summerWhat proved to be one of the most outstanding promotional schemes was the exhibit of Virginia Feeder Calves at the Lenawee County Fair in Michigan, which I was priviledged in taking part in.
Rodes Brown and his State Feeder Calf Sale Committee, Allen, K. C. and Mr. McClaugherty, of the Vir- , ginia Division of Markets, had gotten together a representative lots of Virginia Hereford and^ Angus calves from breeders of the Charlottesville area.
These calves were put on creep feeders in mid August, weaned -a couple of weeks later and trucked to _Blissfield, Michigan where they were unloaded at Wayne Lipps* farm. Allen > Randolph and Dr. Bartin, the latter of the state veterinarian department, had gone out with the calves which arrived at Lipps’ place Thursday after noon, August 17 making the 600 mile trip in 16 and a fraction hours.
