Elected for 1954
In their December meeting Washington Masonic Lodge No. 78, A.F. and A.M. elected the following officers for the year 1954: Worshipful Master—Gibson Wharton; Senior' Warden, Morgan Johnston; Junior Warden, Leon Hackley; Treasurer, James Settle; Secretary, Bruce Bowie; Senior Deacon, Claude Cook; and Junior Deacon, Vernon Scott. Worshipful Master Elect Gibson Wharton appointed William Bywaters, chaplain; Ralph Rowzie, Senior Steward; Graham Hackley, Junior Steward, and Charles Bruce, Tiler.
Fire Burns House

Fire completely consumed the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Swindler in Old Hollow, Monday night. The Sperryyille Fire Company answered the call around 1 o',clock and stayed until 6 o’clock. Nothing was saved from the flames, which were of undetermined origin. At the time the fire, broke out, Mr. and Mrs. Swindler and two grandchildren were in the home. They escaped uninj ured.
