We’ve often heard the bemoaning of the fact that “Christmas is no longer the celebration of Christ’s birthday, but the celebration of Santa IClaus’s yearly visit.” People interpret this as a sign that we are drifting more and more toward materialism, ignoring the principles of Christianity. This is false. Santa Gaus, himself, is a symbol of unselfishness, of a desire to give, and at the same time of reward for good behavior. None of these characteristics are nonChristian.
