Can You Believe?
. ... This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” St. John 3:19.
This statement by the historical Jesus of Nazareth, who has been hailed as the very manifestation of the God of this world by countless millions, was directed ~ primarily . at the religious leaders of his day. Is it possible that they recognized their darkness (inability, spiritual blindness, sinfulness) for what it truly was and still loved it more than light (clean living, understanding, ability to commune with a living God) ?
Can you believe that a people can come to love their own way of life so intensely that they are -blind to their own errors? It is hard to believe any generation could love darkness when their own Creator provides light. Yet it seems to have happened many times in history regarding many things that were given to the world.
Can you believe snat there is hope for our world to know true peace if the Light which comes from God is ignored by more than fifty per cent of the people? I think it is an established fact that those who seek'sincerely, repentantly, and humbly, find “that light is come into the world” and that “God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” St. John 3:17.
