A Neighborhood
By Clarence E. Flynn I know a little neighborhood , Where lovely gardens grow, And pleasant little homes are stood All in a friendly row; Where happy children romp and play, And kind hearts understand, And each is ready any day
To lend a helping hand. Suspicion mars no friendship there,
And falsehoods spread no gall Sorrow and joy both are shared
And each keeps faith with all. Now if one little neighborhood
Such blessedness can claim, Why in the name of all that’s good Can’t the whole world do the same7

Overdue Rain
A nice steady rain descended Sunday afternoon and continued through Sunday night to the delight of Rappahannock dwellers, long ago tired of the dry spell, Usually rainy days are Tather gloomy and the overcast sky spells trouble to mothers who have youngsters to “keep busy.” It’s odd with what a different attitude one greets a long-absent friend.
