Madison and numerous workouts in judging livestock on farms. The team composed of Kelly Updike, Jackie Sisk, Glen Updike, Jimmy Yates, placed 9th out of 15 teams in the contest. This record is very good considering the competition of the more experienced teams of '"the area. ~~~ : " :.-==
On April 15th, five 4-H boys who are raising sheep as one of their projects attended the sheep shearing school in Warrentoh. These boys, Jackie Sisk, Kelly Updike, Richard Griffith, Glen Updike and Randall Updike, participated in a contest at the end of the school where the best shearers was judged according to speed, condition of the fleece, etc. Kelly Updike and Jackie Sisk placed first and second winning a chance to attend the all-expense-paid to Staunton for a two day shearing school and contest.
We feel that this kind of competition and training not only help the boys with their livestock now but will mean much more to them in later years. They have represented Rappahannock County well at these-contests and we feel very proud of them.
