The Flint Hill school’s interior underwent afall cleaning last week, when Mrs. Annie A. Cooke, the school’s principal, several parents from the community and the Boy Scout troop combined forces to make **the school house livable. All the inside has been painted, the floors scrubbed and sanded and an oil mist sprayed on. The book cases have also been painted. Almost a pick-up load of trash was burned by the scouts in a giant bon fire. In addition Mrs. Cooke has spent many of these smothering summer days cleaning the school. The funds designated for the school improvement program by the Flint Hill P.T.A., previous to their disbanding, will do much to further this project . . . These improved conditions of the school will be a comfort to the parents who watch the offsprings leave for school these next nine months; as well as an incentive to the youths to work harder.

The talk in Amissville is all “festival” lingo with the members of the Fire Company and the Auxiliary seeing to last minute details, for their September 23, 24, and 25 festival. The festival has been well planned with each night being packed full of fun and frolic. Amissville is especially eager to have a good crowd this year, in order that they may pay for their new up-to-date fire truck. To have this crowd, the other towns in the county must support Amissville’s project by attending and bringing the family, as well. 7

The Senate expelled Blount; the House impeached him and the trial began Dec. 1798. His counsel said the Senate had lost jurisdiction when it expelled Blount. The Senate, agreed to that view of the case, and dismissed the impeachment.
