In early 1952, a few enterprising and far-seeing individuals in the area of Amissville decided that a Volunteer Fire Department would be an added protection and an asset to the homes and individuals in that growing community.
As in all such projects of this sort everywhere, the old story of the “fors” and the “agins” was reenacted, but hard work determination and the generosity of many provided not only a small, second-hand, homemade, fire truck and an ancient pumper, but a twostory fire house.
