When conversing with Miss Conrad in her U. S. home, the Lee Highway Hotel in Sperryville, it is immediately known that she loves travel and thrives on a wealth of experience. Though she only arrived in the county last week end, she has visited the Skyline Drive twice and seen several towns in the county.
Thus far, there seems to be little difference between the U. S. ' teaching system and that of Canada, remarks Miss Conrad. She notes, however, with approval, the days of teacher preparation for the school year in advance of • the pupils enrolling. In her country the pupils come to school the very first day for instructions on names of books, etc, and at noon, leaving the teachers the afternoon for their arrangements, and plans for the teaching session. ' Miss Wood, who left Tuesday for Canada, will probably teach in ' Vancouver, though it is not positive that she will have a position in Miss Conrad’s school, Lord Nelson. As Miss Wood prefers teaching the fourth or fifth grades instead of Art, she may be assigned ' elsewhere. While in Vancouver Miss Wood is planning to make

Engagement Announcement
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Mills of Huntly, Rappahannock County, have announced the engagement of their daughter* Evelyn Doris, to Frederick Kenneth Harris, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. F. K. Harris Sr., of Front Royal. Miss Mills is a graduate of Rappahannock County High School, class of ‘54, and is employed at The Bank of Virginia in Richmond. Mr. Harris is now ' serving in the U. S. Navy and if stationed at Norfolk.
