When Rappahannock County heard that it was losing Miss Mary Miller Wood to Canada in the teacher-exchange program, it was proud of its daughter but it rather bemoaned the losing of a good teacher for even one session. However, upon meeting and talking with Canada’s representative, Miss Lucy R. Conrad, the county recognizes that Vancouver, too, sent out one of its best.**
The veteran of a variety of teaching training and actual experience, Miss Conrad adjusts quickly to America’s system of education. Her high school training was received in Ladner, British Columbia. Following her Teachers Training she taught in education’s best workshop, a oneroom country school near Ladner, and then accepted a position in Ladner.
The Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division) claimed Miss Conrad's attention for 3 * years. Working towards her Arts Specialist Certificate (which she now holds) Miss Conrad took courses in McGill University in Montreal and Victoria Summer School in Victoria, B. C.
For the past six years, Miss Conrad has taught in Lord Nelson School in Vancouver. Though in her previous teaching years, Miss Conra4 has taught social studies, Physical Education and English, among other courses, she concentrated on Art in Lord Nelson, a school of 800.
