In a period of one season, the P '•.ppahannock Chiefs advanced from a basement ball club to a first division club; As they did this they netted for the Sperryville and Washington Volunteer Fire Departments, a welcome sum. This club, something of a county project, owes its success to .the faithfulness of its players and to several persons who followed it through thick and thin. These persons are to be congratulated: Mahlon _Ramey, manager; Carlton Atkins; ticket collector; and Frank Huff and Whitt Hudson, soft drink sellers. The crowd of home rooters are thanked for their support of this project. May next year see more such interested persons.
