To make 40 bars, sift 1 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, l/£j teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup melted fat, 1 cup sugar, 2 well beaten eggs, 1 cup chopped nuts, 1 cup chopped fruit' (your choice of dates, appricots, figs, prunes or 1/3 cup raisins with 2/3 cup chopped dried apples). Mix together dry ingredients. Mix other ingredients in order given. Line a shallow baking pan with waxed paper. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. Several minutes after removing from oven cut into bars about 1-3 inches and roll in confectioners sugar. RAPFK GARDEN CLUB TO MEET OCTOBER 27

The Rappahannock Garden Club will meet with Mrs. W. C. - Hall on October 27 at 2 p.m. Mrs. L. J. Kilby is in charge of the program having as her topic: “Landscaping for Unity." The exhibits will feature “Oriental Arrangements of Chrysanthemums.”

Williams — Miller

Miss Margaret Miller, daughter of Mrs. Maggie Miller Ma-' honey and the late Lewis Miller of the Beef Cattle Research Station, and John W. Williams, son of Mrs. Nettie Williams and the late Earnest Williams of Chester Gap, were married in Front Royal by the Rev. Stagg, Saturday, October 16. They will make their home with his mother. Mr. Williams is employed by the Old Va. in Front Royal.
