The Bronze Star Medal hasi been awarded to Sergeant First Class George W. Pullen, of Flint Hill, honoring his meritorious service in Korea from September 1952 to July 1953.

The commander of a tank, Sergeant Pullen, was cited for the ^excellent organization, m a i ntenance and trainifig of his crew.

Sgt. Pullen entered the service on February 26, 1952 and served until his discharge on September 8, 1954. He is now a member of the Army Reserve.

The son of Mr. and Mrs, Horace Pullen of Flint Hill, Mr* Pullen* » married to the former Miss Shirley Clark. .

Miss Lelia Gentry, Charles Williams and Miss Juanita Atkins placed first, second and third, respectively, in the Rappahannock Soil Conservation Poster Contest recently concluded and \ “Sonny” Williams, in competition with winners from 5 counties placed third in the district/ contest.

Any student that was enrolled in the public school system within the counties of Culpeper, Orange, Madispn, Greene and Rappahan-. nock was eligible to participate in this contest sponsored by the Culpeper Soil Conservation District.

Posters were judged on clearness and force of theme, 50 points; originality, 10 points; neatness, 10 points; quality of workmanship, 15 points and degree of •farm conservation shown. 15 Doints.
