Fauquier County Hospital. He stated that never would a patient needing treatment be turned down. However, there would doubtless be cases when patients would be taken in from this county, and then being themselves unable to pay their bills, would necessitate the case being referred to the_ county Welfare Department. Then after investigation the Board would decide whether or not the patient actually could defray his own expenses. In many cases of this kind, the Welfare would out of its alloted fund pay the bill. However, in such cases as they would not be able to pay the bills, although they declare the individual unable to pay them himself, would the Board hearing the Welfare’s report, assume the debt. This would be merely a gentlemen’s agreement, that would not burden unnecessarily the Board of Supervisors, and yet it would not leave the hospital itself with the expenses. The Board unanimously entered into the agreement.

Welfare Superintendent Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin asked the Board for a $900 allotment that would be needed in excess of her previously approved budget. This money is needed in the foster care department of her office. In the department’s budget, Mrs. Buntin had allotted for a certain number of foster care cases as based on the need in preceding years. Due to 11 new cases, in addition to the previously alloted ones, the additional sum is needed. The figure $900 is based on the actual expense that will be charged during December and the following 5 month period.
Upon hearing Mrs. Buntin, the Supervisors agreed to pay this additional, spread over the period, as long as possible.
