County Is Approved
For Drought Relief
Rappahannock County has been designated by the Secretary of Agriculture for inclusion in the Drought Disaster Area for Emergency Drought Feed, Grain and Hay Program.
This approval is the result of a second appeal by county officials to the state and federal authorities. The first request was refused but following a survey made by the County Agent and PMA offices, a truer picture evolved and after reviewing the case, the state committees agreed to Rappahannock’s inclusion in the program. The question was referred to the federal authorities several weeks ago.
Several changes have taken place in the program. These can be best explained by the county officials carrying out the program Applications for hay may be filled out at the County Agent’s office and those for grain at the PMA office.
The grains available under thd “"■relief program consist of com, oats, barley, sorhum cane or a mixture of these. They can be procured by purchase order from any local dealer. The allotment is $1 per 100 cwt. on any of these grains.
Included in the Federal-State Drought Emergency Program for hay are the following:
