Melvin Jordon, son of James and Margaret Jordon, has recent»Iy completed his basic training with flying colors at Camp Gordon, Georgia, and is spending a - leave with his parents in Flint Hill.
Pvt. Jordan attended school in Flint Hill and at George Washington 'Carver. He entered the Armed Forces in January. Arriv4ng home on the 3rd of April, he will be off duty until the 15th of this month.

Mrs. Mildred Kates of The Plains, formerly of Flint Hill, daughter of Marshall Barbour, died Saturday, April 2nd at Winchester Hospital. She had been sick for a month prior to her death.
Funeral services were conducted at Middleburg, Wednesday, April 6th at 2 o’clock.
