Mr. Atkins was born the son or J. Walton and Maggie Atkins on July 2, 1906 in Luray. He spent part of his boyhood in Sperryville and graduated from Sperryville High School. Mr. Atkins entered, the Army during World War II rising to the rank of staff sergeant: in the 121 Combat Engineers. He met and married Mrs. Margaret Curry, December 27, 1950, while stationed in England. Returning: to the States, he, his wife and-her daughter, Maureen, made their home in Sperryville where Mr. Atkins was a merchant. r"** '
