Hume Pioneers Defeat Amissville
The Hume Pioneers handed the Amissville Athletics their fifth loss of the season as they downed them, 6-1. The game was won in the first inning as Hume scored two runs. They added one in the fifth; two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Amissville scored their only run in the fifth when with two outs Allison and John James were hit by the pitcher and Jr. Martin got a single, scoring Allison. Amissville played a very good game against the experienced Hume team, which is picked to win the Northern Virginia League crown this year. The young Amissville team is showing improvement each week.
Gilbert was the winning pitcher. He allowed only 3 hits, walked one and struck out four. Bragg pitched a good game for Amissville He allowed seven hits, walked 3 and struck out seven.
M. Poe and Gilbert got two hits, each for Hume.
EX James, Trainium and*, Jr. Martin got Amissville three hits.
Amissville will play Manassas at Manassas, Sunday June 5.
