“The Commonwealth vs. Pete A. Atkins, charged with breaking and entering on three counts; Atkins was convicted and sentenced to the penitentiary for 3 years.”

Two of the three burglaries were committed the night of July 25, when Atkins and Dodson entered Mack’s Store and Lea Bros., where “about six dollars was taken from the cash register, some meats, milk and a small amount of groceries. The safe was opened and a strong box containing valuable papers was taken away and opened some distance from the store—the strong box and papers Were recovered." Atkins was picked up early the morning of July 26 and confessed to the. two burlaries of the night before, and also to breaking and entering Merrill Motor Company several weeks prior.
