John Samuel Smoot

John Samuel Smoot, 47, died Friday, November 18, while a patient in the Warren Memorial hospital, Front Royal, following a short illness.

Mr. Smoot was the son of the late Robert A. Smoot and Lizzie Riley Smoot, of Rappahannock.

Graveside services were conducted in the Masonic Cemetery in Washington, Monday evening, November 21. Elder Warren Corbin conducted the last rites. Among the survivors, in addition to Mr. Smoot’s mother, are three brothers, J. L. Smoot of Culpeper; j Jake Smoot of Washington, and Willie Smoot, of Double Tollgate; one sister* Mrs. Anna Brown of Warren County.

Active pallbearers at the burial services were C. H. Smoot, David Smoot, Atha Smoot, Jake Smoot, Keath Smoot and James Smoot, all nephews of the deceased. Nieces served as honorary pallbearers.
