On December 14, Rebecca Fin-, cham, accompanied by Miss Dillon, entered the State Cherry Pin Baking Contest in Winchester. She was eligible by winning the Chapter contest. Other counties competing were Clarke, Fauquier and Warren. The contestant from Clarke county won. She will go to Chicago for die National contest.
Fads ’N Fashions
Girls are usually the ones to start fads but in R.C.H.S. the boys seem to have taken over. Here are just a few of the ideas they have come up with: We are sure everyone has noticed the white bucks painted in red and blue that have been walking around school. Decorated in nail polish with the latest Bop sayings they’re sure to be noticed wherever they go.
The boys have also adopted a style from the gay-nineties that is —vests! Bright plaids, bold print, or gay colors, anything as long as they are loud enough td be seen. The boys also have discovered hats, all shapes and sizes. We think this one fad that will stick.
Enough for the fads—now for some of the fashions. Everyone, both boys and girls are wearing V-necked sweaters. They come in orlon or wool in a great variety of colors. For the girls they look very . nice worn with a scarf or collar.
More and more pretty belts are coming on the market this year. Franceen Fashions puts out a cowhide that comes with a choice of monograms to slip into the brass buckle. It comes in orange, tan, brown or navy.
For the personal touch—a belt buckle covered in the same fabric as your favorite dress. All you need is a slim rustproof buckle, plus a bias strip of your own fabric to cover it.
