Results; although the technician had no way of tell* ing sample A and sample B were actually from the same field* their readings were identical as follows: Six out of fourteen on pH, fourteen out of fourteen on calcium, fourteen out of fourteen on magnesium, fourteen out of fourteen on phosphate level, and thirteen out of fourteen on potash. The variation in pH was from 0.1 to 0.2 which is very close. Mighty accurate work, Fd say.

Now what? We must simply concentrate greater effort in, teaching people how to take a soil sample using available tools, emphasizing the difference in getting a sample from a pasture field from the method of getting a sample from a pasture field from the method of getting a sample from a crop field. Also we must encourage farmers to make accurate reports on field history. Also fanners should learn all they can about sdil types on their farms while Mr. Coleman or Mr. Derting or Mr. Carter are making the soil survey. If such has already been done then I suggest you go see these men and find out what you have to work with and what it is good for.

A soil test is an excellent guide but can be not better than the manner in which the sample is taken. It might be compared to a thermometer reading in diagnosing an illness. Below normal temperatures are expected with many diseases, above normal with others. Doctors not only need thermometer readings, they listen to your respiration, check blood pressure, pay close attention to outward appearances of the patient, etc., and then prescribe. Thus
